The growing problem of over-prescription of antibiotics

The issue with the growing problem of over-prescription of antibiotics is that people misuse them for unnecessary reasons. This makes those who misuse them to get antibiotic resistance, which can be transfer this to others. For example, farmers use an antibiotic called colistin, in order to increase the size of their livestock, like their pigs. These pigs with antibiotic resistance are able to transfer it to humans through consumption. These humans can also transfer it to other humans, making them a hazard to their environment. Since this resistance is infectious, it is considered as a danger to the public health because in some cases can result in death. According to 'theguardian', 700,000 people die every year.
